How to Get the BEST Shave - Kortni Jeane

how to get the best shave

This is not a drill! I'm sure you've spent loads of time researching and trying new things to avoid those pesky razor burns. This is exactly what you've been looking for! Actually, it's better than you could've ever dreamed. These shaving tricks are absolutely some of the most golden self-care tips we've ever learned. This magic shave works for your legs, bikini area, and armpits. It will save you from the pain and embarrassment of razor burns that keep you from swimming and showing off your gorgeous skin. Here's your recipe for success:

Ingredients for the best shave

You can find all of these items at any local grocery store or pharmacy. Any brand will work, but we have a few suggestions we'll mention to help you along the way. Once you have your baby oil, shaving cream, isopropyl alcohol, scentless nonstick deodorant, and a good razor handy you're all set! Time to get started:
wash with soap and exfoliate
First, it's important to wash with soap and exfoliate to make sure everything is clean and prepped. Exfoliating beforehand is crucial because it rids you of dead skin that gets into your hair follicles and irritates your skin. Exfoliation can be as simple as making your own DIY sugar scrub or buying your favorite brand of exfoliating soap from the store. Try this super easy lemon sugar scrub at home:

cover area in baby oil
Wet your legs like you normally would, then cover the areas you want to shave in baby oil. A little bit goes a long way with this stuff, so start with a dime-size drop in your hand and spread it evenly until your legs & any other shaving areas are covered. Our favorite pick is Primally Pure baby oil. All of their ingredients are all natural, so you don't have to worry about it damaging your skin or causing bad reactions. It's important to get baby oil rather than another product because baby oil is made to be soft on your skin. It's definitely the "secret ingredient" of this incredible shaving technique that makes it work so well.
add layer of shaving cream
Next, without washing the oil off, add a layer of shaving cream over top. You don't need a ton, just enough to cover your skin. Our favorite brands are EOS shaving cream, Gillette Satin Care, and Skintimate shaving cream.
shave it all off
Once you're all covered, it's time to shave. There will be a lot of thick build-up, so make sure to rinse your razor well and give it a good shake between each stroke. We suggest using a men's razor because they're built to remove coarser hair and be gentle on the face. If you're not super picky, a women's razor will also work just fine.
pro tip men's razors are better
rinse everything head to toe
After all feels nice and smooth, rinse everything from head to toe. Gently wash all of the leftover shaving cream and baby oil off. Your skin may still feel a little oily, so feel free to use some gentle soap to remove the excess. You don't want your skin to feel greasy, but it's good to have a little moisture on your skin still so it doesn't dry out easily.
pat with isopropyl alcohol
After rinsing, dry off with a towel. Then immediately use a large cotton pad to pat with isopropyl alcohol to kill germs. Just a heads up, it will sting a little, but it's worth it in the long run. This step helps kill bacteria so that it doesn't get into your hair follicles and pours, causing irritation and infection. This step is crucial for shaving your bikini area and armpits because they are prone to ingrown hairs and infections.
apply nonstick plain deodorant
Lastly, apply a thin layer of nonstick plain deodorant. A lot of the areas of skin you shave can be really sensitive, so we suggest using a scentless and/or hypoallergenic deodorant. Our favorite is Primally Pure unscented deodorant. Because they use all natural ingredients to create the best products that won't harm your skin, you can be sure that this deodorant is gentle on the most sensitive areas of your body. Use our code "kortni" for 10% off your purchase. Obviously, applying this all over your legs is a bit much, so this step is just for keeping your bikini line and armpits from chaffing when rubbed together or against your clothes. Simply apply it along your bikini line. No need to be excessive. If your armpits are prone to chaffing as well make sure to apply a layer so that they won't get irritated right after your shower. Throughout the week, you can continue applying thin layers of deodorant to avoid chaffing.
Enjoy your silky soft shavehow to get the best shave
There you go! Our little secret to you. You'll never shave the same way again! This technique makes your skin silky smooth for days. So, say goodbye to chaffing, razor burns, and painful shaving. Now pass this on to all your lady friends and do them a favor ok? It's magic.
xoxo,
