How to Celebrate Halloween During Quarantine
Halloween is definitely not canceled this year! We can’t be the only ones who wondered how the holidays would unfold as this unexpected year went on. Now that October is here, we know Halloween celebrations will be different for everyone, but we’re determined to make it the best year yet! These changes can be an exciting time to mix things up and think outside the box! So how will we be celebrating this year? Let’s take a look!

Go crazy with decor

A lot more people are finding themselves with more time than ever this year to get ready for the holidays and we know we’ll be taking full advantage of this! Whether you’re stuck at home or simply trying to find a way to entertain kids during homeschool craft time, this is the time to go all out! Have a competition with the yards in your neighborhood (who can make the best graveyard!?), use recycled material to get creative, and go above and beyond your usual fall decor. This year we’re thinking ahead and ordering supplies online to skip the crowded stores. We’ve got loads of fun ideas on our Halloween Pinterest board, so check them out!

Enter our #kortnijeanehalloween costume contest

It gets better every year and this year is no exception! People will be going all out for our Halloween costume contest and you should too! It’s an absolute blast to dress up whether it’s a solo costume, a group of roommates, or you and the whole fam! So start brainstorming ideas early! All you have to do is include a Kortni Jeane swimsuit and post on your Instagram. For more details read our contest rules here. You never know...you just may win!

"Boo" Your Neighbors

This is the sweetest trend, literally! It’s often called “Booing” or “Ghosting” someone (and no, we’re not talking about ghosting in dating). Simply buy or make a homemade treat for someone and then secretly drop it off on their porch. Kids especially get a kick out of doorbell ditching these sweet treats. Alongside it you’ll leave a note that goes something like this:
  • You’ve been “booed”! To keep the boo going:
  • Copy this sign and hang it on your door/ a visible window
  • Make 1-2 treats of your choice
  • Secretly deliver these to 1-2 neighbors with a “boo” sign
  • Keep an eye out to see how far the “boo” spreads!
You can do this to as many people as you’d like! It spreads around the neighborhood and it’s so fun to see just how far these cute acts of service go! Check out these adorable templates to get started!

Play our Spooktober playlist on repeat

We know a lot of you are sad your local Halloween parties are canceled, but have no fear! We’ve put together the perfect Spooktober playlist just for you! So whether you’re having an at home dance party or getting your costume making skills on, you’ll have just the thing to get you in that spooky mood.

Try a piñata this year

If trick-or-treating isn’t an option in your area, you can get all of the fun of candy without risking spreading Covid with a Halloween themed piñata! If you’ve got the time you can try making your own! It may just be your new favorite Halloween tradition!

Make pre-packaged treats for trick-or-treaters

If trick-or-treating is still on, there are plenty of options that can aid in avoiding spreading germs this year.  Make pre-packaged treats that can easily be handed out without hundreds of little hands on them first. Anything you can do to avoid candy bowls will help you have no regrets. We’ve seen adorable ideas all over Pinterest for homemade rice krispies, popcorn balls, and candy grab bags. Looks like trick-or-treating may still be an option this year!

Create a haunted house/candy hunt in your home

Have you always wanted to make your living room into a haunted house? Now’s your chance! If we’re going all out with decorations this year there’s going to be no holding back! Make your living room into Dr. Frankenstein’s lab, a Disney villain’s castle, or a “Fear Factory” challenge. Go crazy with the plastic spiders, cobwebs, and even slime buckets! To take it to the next level, try making it into a candy hunt! Maybe you have to reach into a bucket of slime to get your treat? Or maybe you have to tip-toe through an obstacle course of spiders for your prize? Get creative and have a blast!

Host a spooky photo scavenger hunt

Try hosting a photo scavenger hunt this year! You can take photos from around your city or in your own home. Then, participants must find each location to win a special prize. You can even invite the neighbors to social distance and participate or complete the hunt on their own time. Make it as spooky as you’d like complete with ghost stories and little scares along the way! They’ll love your creativity!

Have a Zoom Halloween costume contest

Is your family just as excited for Halloween as you are? Invite them to participate in a costume contest via Zoom! You can even choose a theme for everyone. In the past we’ve loved our Munch party themes including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, and Disney Villains. Get creative and make the contest yours! The real question is, who will be the winner!?

Do your own research and go on a ghost tour of your city

This one can be a little more time consuming, but if you’re into haunted houses and ghost tours this one’s for you! Research your city’s haunted sites, make your notes, and take your friends or family on a tour. It’s the perfect activity for small groups and will make this year unforgettable! You may be surprised how much spooky history surrounds your very own town.

Learn how to make a new spooky treat

Halloween just wouldn’t be complete without a little more sugar! We’ve seen some delicious ideas on Pinterest and can’t wait to try them out! You can go with a certain theme, decorate with the whole fam, and share them with the neighbors {or eating them all yourself is acceptable too}! If you’re a pumpkin fan, you won’t want to miss our favorite pumpkin recipes! These will not disappoint!
Are you convinced that Halloween is going to be the best one yet this year!? We are! Tag us in all of your festivities on Instagram #kortnijeanehalloweenWe especially can’t wait to see what amazing costumes you come up with this year using your KJ swimmers! Have a spooky time!
