Favorite Sunscreen for Kids

Favorite Sunscreen for Kids - Kortni Jeane
Finding the right sunscreen for your minis is no joke. You should never settle for less than safe + clean ingredients as well as effective sunscreen, for yourself and especially for your kids! Today we’re coming at you with our top eight recommendations for sunscreens that are meant for our little ones. Before we dive right in, just know that although sprays are convenient, I believe lotions soak in better making them more effective. I also like using sunscreen sticks for faces. It’s a convenient and easy way to keep sunscreen out of their eyes but also ensures that you don’t miss a spot. Now take a peek at our favorite sunscreen options for kids + babies:
.
I keep my little one smiling in the sunshine with Aveeno Baby sunscreen. Not only does it have oat extract that soothes and moisturizes Lui’s skin, but it is naturally sourced with zinc oxide that provides great protection for her during the day. This sunscreen feels thick at first but absorbs quickly so your baby won’t feel greasy at all. Plus it’s free of fragrances, dyes, and paraben, so that’s a yes from me.
.
From ointments to sunscreen, I have always loved and trusted Tubby Todd. They have mastered the formula for sensitive skin, even in their sunscreen. I love that this sunscreen doesn’t leave icky residue on my kids arms + legs. I apply it to dry skin and rub, rub rub it in! It should give them 80 minutes of water adventuring and is meant for skin of all ages but recommended for 6 months and older.
.
Take a look at this sunscreen for babies! It is scented with organic lavender essential oil, is vegan, reef safe, and leaping bunny cruelty free. It doesn’t get more clean than that! Again they have spray options, but I feel that lotions soak into your kids skin better, making it more effective. Goddess Garden also offers a face stick for babies, which is what I love to use. You just can’t go wrong with any of the kid sunscreens Goddess Garden offers.
.
I love Supergoop for myself, especially for my face, but have yet to try their sunscreen options for kiddos. But if you’re looking for safe sunscreen that has clean ingredients, Supergoop is here for you! I’d feel comfortable switching to their sunscreens for my own kids if my first three recommendations weren’t available. So let me know if you love this one because I bet it’s great!

 Baby Bum
We all know and love Baby Bum. They have earned a high safety score for kids from the EWG, so you can rest easy knowing you're applying safe + clean ingredients on your little ones. This sunscreen applies like a dream, covers well, and doesn’t get too sticky. It’s also vegan and cruelty-free. They, like many clean brands, offer sprays, lotions, and face sticks. Use whatever you prefer + is easiest for you, but I will always recommend lotions over sprays.
.
This is another one I’ve heard good things about. Like the recommendations above, this baby sunscreen doesn’t have irritating fragrances, parabens, or sulfates. More importantly, it effectively protects and moisturizes your babes skin. Other mamas have said that it is water resistant for 80 minutes and absorbs quickly so your kids won’t feel sticky at all. This one is also an inexpensive option that’s available at many local stores and pharmacies.
.
If you’re looking for safe, effective sunscreens for the little ones, Earth Mama is here for you! Earth Mama Baby Face lotion and face stick have earned the highest safety score for kids from the EWG, so you can apply it worry free to your little ones skin. I’ve heard that this particular brand is pretty sheer, so your kiddos won’t look pasty but you’ll still be able to see if you’ve missed a spot during application. Made with shea butter and organic calendula, you're bound to love this option.
.
Water & Play is definitely a motto I can get behind. TruBaby Water & Play baby sunscreen (SPF 30) has also earned the highest safety score for kids from the EWG, so you can feel comfortable using it on your babes. This particular sunscreen was designed for infants, who have sensitive skin. It’s made with aloe vera, sunflower seed oil, jojoba oil and other 100% natural ingredients, so your baby's skin is as safe as can be. I haven’t tried this one personally, so let me know if you love it!
.
Talk about getting our little ones ready for the sunshine! With one of these formulas, they’ll be ready to jump, splash, kick, run and play under the sun without worry. But most importantly, you’ll be able to relax too, knowing that you didn’t settle for less than clean + safe ingredients and for sunscreen that’s actually effective against the sun. So pack it up and head to the pool, park, or beach! Let us know below which sunscreens you love for your kiddos so we can add it to our list.
