Cleaning Hacks for Spring Cleaning

Cleaning Hacks for Spring Cleaning - Kortni Jeane
It’s almost spring time! Say hello to sunshine, swimmers, and spring cleaning! Something about spring gives us the push we need to re-organize our space and clean the corners we don’t always get to. Today we’re coming at you with our favorite cleaning hacks to make your spring cleaning endeavors a little easier. Take a look and happy cleaning!
.
DETOX YOUR GARBAGE DISPOSAL
The garbage disposal in your sink does a lot of dirty work daily. So we’d like to give you an eco-friendly tip to keep it clean and clog-free. To best clean and deodorize your garbage disposal, use a fresh lemon or lime! All you have to do is cut the fruit into quarters, and while you have the water running, put the slices one by one into the disposal. You’ll find you love the results and your sink will smell oh so yummy.
.
STEAM THE MICROWAVE
Did you know that you can use essential oils to clean your microwave?! We recommend adding 15 drops of lemon essential oil into 1 ½ cups of water in a microwave-safe bowl. Then place that bowl in the microwave for 5 to 10 minutes, allowing the steam to condense on the inside of your microwave. Once done, take a sponge and wipe away the softened food/stains. This is a great way to disinfect your appliance and keep your kitchen smelling fresh without harmful chemicals.
.
SPRUCE UP YOUR MATTRESS
We were today years old when we found out we could clean our mattress. We wash our bedding pretty regularly but can’t exactly throw our mattress in the washing machine! Luckily, we learned that you can keep your mattress clean with baking soda & vinegar! All you have to do is spray the mattress with vinegar and sprinkle baking soda over the top. You can place a towel over the area and let it sit for one to two hours - then take your vacuum and go over the mattress for a final clean. We’ll definitely sleep better at night knowing our mattress is as clean as can be.
.
DUST CEILING FANS
This cleaning hack is particularly amazing! Instead of using a rag to clean your ceiling fan, which will make dust fall onto your furniture and floors - use a pillowcase! It’s so brilliant and simple our minds are blown. Simply slip the pillowcase in between the fan blades and swipe one at a time. The dust will fall into the pillowcase, which you can easily throw into the laundry basket when you’re done. It’s genius and we’re here for it!
.
BATHROOM GAME CHANGER
From tubs to sinks to toilet bowls, baking soda and vinegar will clean it all for you! All you have to do is mix one cup vinegar with half a cup of baking soda and hot water. Pour this mixture into an empty tub and allow it to sit for five minutes. Start filling the tub with hot water until it is about a quarter full, and let it sit for an additional five minutes. Then release that drain and rinse your tub to see the magic! To freshen up your toilet, just let the mixture soak in there for a bit, then flush and wipe things down. For your sink, follow similar steps to the tub, but on a smaller scale. This magical cleaning concoction with regular kitchen items is truly a game changer.
